Virtual Firewall

UBC's virtual firewall service is essentially a logical firewall providing traditional, protective, filtering services to virtual networks. The service is delivered by dedicating slices of firewall resources to department virtual networks. Although the physical resource is shared, the firewall appears as a single (logical) resource dedicated to the department.

Department administrators are able to focus on managing the firewall security policy while UBC IT provides 7 x 24 hardware and software support. Introductory training on firewall policy management is available to administrators upon request. UBC IT also manages hardware life cycling and software updates providing further financial and resource benefits to UBC departments.
