The training covers the fundamental knowledge that everyone should have about privacy and information security, including units on:

  • Privacy & Personal Information
  • Storage & Encryption of Information
  • Transmission & Sharing of Information
  • Working Remotely
  • Phishing
  • Disclosure of Information
  • Freedom of Information Requests
  • Managing Records and Information
  • Managing Accounts and Passwords
  • Tips and Reminders

It is a mandatory requirement for faculty, staff, researchers, student employees and contractors who use UBC Electronic Information and Systems.

Privacy and Information Security – IT Professionals

The training covers the knowledge that all University IT Support Staff should have about privacy and information security, including units on:

  • Obligations of an IT Professional
  • Securing & Managing Accounts and Passwords
  • Protecting Systems
  • Acquiring, Developing & Modifying Software Applications
  • Logging & Monitoring
  • Incident Response

It is a mandatory requirement for faculty, staff, researchers, student employees and contractors who are Technical Owners of UBC systems and University IT Support Staff.​ This training should be taken after you have completed Fundamentals Part 1 & Part 2.
